Well Repair update

10/3/2025

To inform the community, the city hereby issues this letter. On 9/20/2025 the pump in the big Oakley well experienced a catastrophic failure. The city called Layne Pumps to get a crew to come and assess the damage. Once on site they were able to, with some difficulty, pull the pump out of the well and assess it for repair. Jared was given a quote and on 10/01/2025 a special city council meeting was held to present the quote to the city council and gain approval to use city funds to move forward with the repairs. The city Council approved the quote and Layne Pumps has been given the go ahead to order parts to begin repair. Materials are still 10 to 12 days out, but we assure you that the city is doing everything we can to get the well back online. In the meantime, we still urge residents to do their part to help alleviate the stress and demand on the remaining well by adhering to the TIER 3 EMERGENCY of the City Emergency Water Restriction (ordinance 23-05-11)
